When a great singer lets her voice float out over the anonymous crowd, or form the grooves of thousands of records, or flow through radios into millions of homes across the world, she makes countless connections with people. The singer has their story, and the listeners have their own. Should those stories touch each other, there can be magic. In Songs for Nobodies, we meet five unknown women who are touched by the great singers percieved to be living the dream: Judy Garland, Patsy Cline, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday, and Maria Callas.
This one-woman show features a powerhouse performance by Sheila Sharma and a live band who weave the music of five legendary divas through a mosaic of stories told by an everyday woman, who had unexpected and life-changing encounters with these musical icons.
