Mozart and Her Brother
October 25, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - October 29, 2022 @ 7:30 pm

October 25 – 29, 2022 | 7:30PM + 3PM Saturday Mozart And Her Brother tells the story of Maria Anna Mozart (known as Nannerl) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as they grow up touring the great cities of Europe. Although she was a brilliant musician, and possibly even more skilled than her famous brother, Nannerl was eventually left behind by her family and by history. Although we know she wrote music, no known copies of it have survived. Developed by Mark Weatherley and Masae Day, the play explores the siblings’ complicated relationship with each other, their domineering father, and music. “Mozart And Her Brother” will feature two multi-talented female artists performing as multiple characters, while also playing selections from the music of W.A. Mozart (arranged by Day) on both violin and piano. With the show’s combination of skilled classical musical performance, comedy, clown, bouffon, and physical theatre, it is a treat for classical music and theatre audiences of all sorts. It is also an opportunity to showcase an emerging company with a timely mandate: to create opportunities for female artists of the present and highlight female artists of the past. |
