Canada Day in Coquitlam – Town Centre Park

Coquitlam recognizes that Canada Day can mean different things for different members of our community. As a result, the City has adapted the July 1 event to provide a day that is sensitive to the diverse range of community perspectives.

Canada Day in Coquitlam is a safe and inclusive family-friendly event with a wide range of entertainment, multicultural performances, fireworks, food, fun activities and opportunities to learn more about Canadian and pre-colonial Indigenous history.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-kwuh-tlum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City of Coquitlam is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the sq̓əc̓iy̓aɁɬ təməxʷ (Katzie), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
