There’s something about poutine that just hits the spot sometimes. That mixture of fresh-cut fries topped with gravy and cheese curds equals the ultimate comfort sensation.

Here on the West Coast, we may have been a little late to the poutine party, but we’re making up for lost time. Having been invented sometime in the 1950s within rural Quebec, today this French-Canadian specialty is known as one of Canada’s favourite dishes.

This year, as you celebrate Festival du Bois from April 16-30 from the comfort of home, why not order takeout from one of our local restaurants while settling in for the show? Here are places to try in Coquitlam – which is, by the way, home to the largest community of French-Canadians in Western Canada.

Austin Fish n Chips

This much-loved fish ‘n’ chips shop has incredible fresh fries, so their poutine likewise is hot and delicious. View their full menu online.
