Tune in to Coquitlam’s Summer Concert Series at Home

This year, Coquitlam’s Summer Concert Series is coming to your home! So order some food, settle into those super cozy garden chairs and pour yourself an ice cold beverage: the show is about to begin.

Kicking off at 5 p.m. this Friday, July 10, you can go to coquitlam.ca/summerconcerts to bring the entertainment home to your backyard, patio or living room. The concerts will also be broadcast live on the City of Coquitlam Facebook page and YouTube channel, and will be available on-demand throughout the weekend.

The Concerts You Don’t Want to Miss

Now in its fourth year, the summer concerts are typically presented on the outdoor stage at TD Community Plaza in Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park.

While we may not be able to gather in large groups, Coquitlam continues to support the local arts and the music will go on! Tune in for the six-part Summer Concert Series at Home, broadcasting virtually on July 10, 17, 24, 31 and Aug. 7 and 14. Be sure to RSVP to the Facebook event pages for updates and reminders.

Mazacote (July 10)

Mazacote kicks off the Series with a Latin funk dance party. This hard-hitting six-piece band has deep roots in Nicaragua, Mozambique and Colombia is set to deliver some upbeat grooves of summer. The group is inspired by Afro-Caribbean percussion and tropical party sounds, featuring the captivating voice of Nicaraguan singer/songwriter David Lopez.

Paul Filek (July 17)

Canadian singer-songwriter, Paul Filek has released three albums and one EP and – fun fact – was a top 40 Canadian Idol finalist in 2007. Expect fun, upbeat, feel-good songs. You can danceor simply chill out in your patio chair.

Bukola Balogun and Etienne Siew (July 24): Bukola Balogun was recently hailed by CBC as one of the top 10 soulful female artists in their 2020 Searchlight competition. This talented 18-year-old is one to watch. Etienne Siew pairs his powerful vocals with songs that guide you through themes of love, loss and triumph over adversity.

Aaron Pritchett (July 31): Highly acclaimed country singer with 14 career Top 10 singles, a gold-selling smash hit and a headlining national tour.

Warren Dean Flandez (Aug. 7): Two-time Juno nominated and eight-time GMA award-winning recording R&B artist, Warren Dean Flandez describes his music simply as “songs with purpose.”

Sarah Wheeler and the Black Salt Sea (Aug. 14): Sarah Wheeler, a queer artist and recent cancer survivor, is defined by her powerhouse vocals and an indomitable positive spirit.

The Food You Don’t Want to Miss

Good music pairs with good food. Why not order takeout and support your favourite local restaurant – or try something new?

This year, Tourism Coquitlam will be featuring different Coquitlam restaurants during each concert as part of our #SupportLocal commitment. These are the featured restaurants to check out for the July 10 and 17 concerts.

Desserts: Get your decadent cakes, cake pops or cupcakes Cakes n Sweets, sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Meals: If you fancy Asian food, try the delectable Singapore/Malaysian cuisine of Singapore Hawker. For takeout pub fare including burgers or ribs, try Woody’s Pub, and for Italian dishes like pizza and pasta, try Pasta Polo, a Coquitlam mainstay.
