Simply put, your local store needs you. Small businesses are our bread and butter, and without them, our world wouldn’t be the same. If you live in Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities, here are some ways you can show your fav’s some love.
Many local shops now offer online ordering and, if not, you can often phone in your order for no-touch pickup.
“A little compassion and connection to your local shops and food service stores will help them to make it to post-pandemic times,” says Sahil Ahluwalia, co-owner (along with Pia Ahluwalia) of The Beanery Coffeehouse & Eatery in Coquitlam. “Buy and order from local places and services you care about.”
Takeout is the New Dining Out
Yes, the days of dining (out) may be on hold, but if you’re getting bored of the same-old, you’ll find a wide selection of restaurants in Coquitlam offering take-out and delivery.
Many local restaurants have adapted, now allowing take-out or delivery. In the Coquitlam area, here are some places that are open – and the list is growing!

Businesses Owners Feel the Love
Lauren Ang, co-owner of Coquitlam craft brewery Mariner Brewing, says her team has been “absolutely blown away by the outpouring of support” shown so far. People are ordering for deliveries on the online store and stopping into the taproom to buy beers to go.
“We know these are strange and challenging times for everyone, but the fact so many in our community are actively making sure to support us and other local small businesses mean the world to us and our team. Thank you!” says Ang.
At Pasta Polo, a long-time local family-run Italian restaurant, owner Fred Soofi is also encouraged by the community support.
“We are fortunate to be able to serve our great community in these challenging times. The Pasta Polo team very much appreciates the support from our caring community. Stay safe,” says Soofi.
It’s not just food services needing your support. Kinetik Cycles is your local bike candy store. Owner Fabian Kim says: “Thanks for supporting a locally owned bike shop! We strive to provide the best bike shop experience in the industry!”
