1. Indoor rock climbing

How would you like to burn tons of calories, strengthen your core or simply tire out your kids? Indoor rock climbing is a great way to keep active year round and at ClimbBase5 in Coquitlam – Metro Vancouver’s largest climbing gym – you’ll find options and programs for all ages and skill levels.

2. Escape rooms

Gather up some teammates to beat the clock and locks inside an escape room. In a nutshell, you’re trapped in a room with a set amount of time to crack the clues and make your way out to safety. There are two companies offering this service in Coquitlam; try them both!

3. Bowling

Black lights and glow-in-the-dark balls take bowling to a whole new level during Cosmic Bowling nights at Zone Bowling in Coquitlam. Order food from any of the restaurants in the concourse to make it an easy night out. This alley offers five- and 10-pin bowling and a video arcade with pool tables. Strike!

4. See a live show

Whether it’s music, theatre or family performances, you’ll find it at Evergreen Cultural Centre. Simply hop off SkyTrain at Lafarge Lake-Douglas station and you’re on the doorstep to this highly entertaining performing arts venue.

5. Go VIP

Leave the kids behind for a deluxe movie viewing at Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam & VIP, with comfy seats, a licensed lounge and in-seat dining (for ages 19+). Or, if you want to catch a film with kids, one affordable option is the Family Favourites series on Saturdays with discounted tickets.

6. Indoor playgrounds

Forget cabin fever! Round up the kids to play at an indoor playground. Crash Crawly’s features a two-storey crazy maze of tunnels, bridges, ball pits, slides and more. Other attractions include laser tag, glow-in-the-dark mini golf and a miniature train ride. Another spot for younger tykes is Little Planet Kidscafe, which has an indoor playground designed for kids up to six years old.

Did you know you can go ice skating in Coquitlam year round? Practice your Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue moves at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex or Planet Ice. Got kids? Check out the wave pool and water slide at City Centre Aquatic Complex.
